employee interview
Jamie
Cloud architect
“The best thing about my job is the combination of technology and people. I get to talk a lot with different people and translate their needs and requirements into technical solutions that the developers can work on.”

What does a typical workday look like for you?
I start the day with a standup where we review yesterday and today's focus. The rest of the day is a mix of meetings, workshops and analyses. I often sit together with different people in the business, everything from product owners to developers, and develop different design artifacts that are then handed over to developers in our team. Security is always in the thinking, for example through threat modeling already in the design phase. I work a lot in the cloud, especially in Azure, and have the role of both platform architect and integration architect, which means that I work with individual technical solutions but also architecturally on a more overall level.
What made you decide to join Omegapoint?
I have been here for 4.5 years now. I first got in touch with them at university when Omegapoint Örebro came and told me about their work. They worked in a modern way and with new technology, which felt exciting. I started as a developer and have since gradually moved more towards technical design and system architecture, which has been a really fun journey. The reason I stayed is primarily the culture and the sense of community. The culture of competence is strong and you are constantly pushed to develop, for example through competence days, conferences and internal activities. I also appreciate the transparency with salary and the good benefits.
What’s the best part about your role?
The best thing is the combination of technology and people. I get to talk to a lot of different people and translate their needs and requirements into technical solutions that the developers can work on. This means that I constantly get to meet new people with different skills and backgrounds, which makes the job both fun and varied.
How would you describe the culture at Omegapoint?
I would say it is open and inviting, with a lot of focus on having fun together even though you spend a lot of time with customers. It is a culture where you feel like you are working with really talented and committed colleagues who enjoy what they do.
If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?
Either to be able to fly or to breathe underwater. Mostly for the feeling of freedom and the opportunity to explore!
